The dollar is falling, and the ruble is growing stronger. Especially – old. Antique coins are sold at auctions for “big money”. So, at the Gelos auction before the new year, for five gold rubles of Alexander III, coinage in 1888 was paid 150 thousand, and for a silver dime of 1741 of unique preservation – 90 thousand rubles. A set of two trial kopecks in 1871 of a copper-nickel alloy with a portrait of Alexander I was bought for 120 thousand rubles.

The commemorative coins of the state of the Republic of Belarus are the official commemorative coins issued by the national bank. These metallic banknotes are not only a symbol of statehood and the wealth of the country, but also constitute an integral and full-fledged system of monetary circulation. The main purpose of issuing banknotes from precious noble metals is propaganda work, which is to familiarize with the cultural and historical heritage of the Republic of Belarus, as well as its sporting, scientific and technical achievements.

The oldest coins of Russia
Trade relations in Ancient Russia emanated entirely from foreign coins, first East European, and then West European. Among the variety of dirhams and denarii there are also such rare and unique coins as money of princes of Rurikovich. The first coin of this kind was discovered already in the distant 1792, among other pendants to the icon, which was located in one of the churches of the city of Kiev.
Not so long ago, about 50 years ago, that for a numismatic business is essentially a short period of time, coins of Russian princes made of silver and gold began to be discovered. They were not of the best quality, so they were taken for very similar Byzantine coins. Continue reading
